The thirty-eighth chapter eastward ceremony (six)

The railway from Beijing to Qingdao has been opened less than three months ago. It passes through Baoding, Zhengding, Dezhou, Jinan, Qingzhou, Weifang and other places. The total journey is more than 920 kilometers, and the total one-way consumption is about 40 hours.

Since the East China Government has determined that Beijing is the capital of the future New China, this railway will be one of the most important railway lines of the East China Government in the next few years.

The Beijing Municipal Government also arranged a whole special car for the 7th-generation Zhangjia Living Buddha and his party. The 7th-generation Zhangjia Living Buddha also has a small single room, and everyone else has a bed, because it is not easy to stay on the train for nearly two whole days.

The Beijing-Qinghai Railway is basically in areas where the East China government ruled for a long time, so the scenery along the road is very different from when I arrived in Beijing. Although the autumn harvest was gone at this time, the countryside was basically not idle, either building bridges and paving roads, digging troughs and digging canals, or burning ashes and spreading fertilizers in the fields, all of which were preparing for the cultivation of the previous year.

Although during the Qing Dynasty, during the slack farming period, some places built some water conservancy facilities to increase the fields, but this was never done in almost every village, because water conservancy construction cannot be completed by one household. There must be a large local landlord in the local area to organize it. Only large landlords have such recruitment and economic strength. After all, water conservancy construction costs money, and the cost is not small. Ordinary farmers, even self-cultivated farmers, cannot afford this amount of money, and they are unwilling to raise money. It is okay to put some effort into it. After all, self-cultivated farmers can have a few acres of land, and they don’t need much water conservancy construction, let alone hire farmers. They are not even their own land, so they still have to repair water conservancy.

Whether in the old time and space or in this era, land reform is by no means simply allocating land to farmers. Moreover, through land distribution, effective grassroots management institutions are established in rural areas and the entire rural labor force is effectively organized. In this way, farmers can be organized to build water conservancy facilities and roads, improve agricultural productivity and rural foreign exchanges during the slack farming period. At this time, the land is naturally the farmers' own, so their enthusiasm for participating in water conservancy construction has also increased a lot.

Seeing these scenes, the 7th-generation Living Buddha Zhangjia couldn't help but feel a lot. He had completely admitted that what he saw and heard along the way, under the rule of the East China Government, the people's life was indeed a hundred times better than the Qing court.

To be honest, if it was under the rule of the Qing court and seeing such scenery among the people, the seventh-generation living Buddha Zhangjia would naturally be very happy. After all, his status and power were closely linked to the Qing court. However, under the rule of the East China Government, such a peaceful and peaceful scene of peace appeared, the seventh-generation living Buddha Zhangjia didn't know how to describe it. Of course, he was not the kind of loyal and loyal royal and Qing dynasty. He would rather have the poverty and hardship of the Qing government than the peace and stability of the East China Government. However, the East China Government has too many emotions that are unexplainable.

Along the way, the Seventh-generation Living Buddha Zhangjia has a deeper understanding of the East China Government's governance philosophy and theoretical basis. If he had surrendered, he would have sneered at this theory and thought it was completely a set of fallacies. However, along the way, he saw that the East China Government did use this theory to create a peaceful scene of peace and prosperity, and then contacted the East China Government's explanation of his own governance, which seemed to show that this theory was indeed effective.

However, although it is effective, it is still difficult to get the view of the Living Buddha Seventh-generation Zhangjia, because he is also one of the victims of this theoretical policy. The temple property of many of his temples stationed in Tsinghua has been forcibly confiscated by the East China government, which can be said to have suffered heavy losses.

In fact, when communicating with the staff of the East China Government, the seventh generation Zhangjia Living Buddha also tactfully raised this issue and implicitly expressed that he hoped that the East China Government would be more tolerant to the children of Buddhism and leave some temples for each temple. After all, monks are not in conflict with the world, so they set up some temples for life and for the Weishang Temple.

Nazhi gave an example of a temple. It was a medium-sized temple. There were more than 300 monks in the temple. Each monk spent about 5 taels of silver in the past year. With the temple’s maintenance and other expenses, the annual cost was no more than 2,500 taels of silver. The temple has more than 5,000 acres of land, more than 10 properties, and stall fees for setting up stalls around the temple. The income alone was 3,000 taels of silver per year, regardless of the incense money collected by the temple itself, donor donations, and monks’ alms beg outside the temple.

Of course, this part of the income varies greatly, because if you meet a rich and generous donor, you will often have hundreds of taels of silver at one time, and it is not uncommon for thousands of silver. However, in a year, 1,000 taels of silver can still be collected, so the actual income of the temple far exceeds the normal expenditure.

After calculating the income of the temple, the other party asked the seventh generation Zhangjia Living Buddha, even if he was a monk, what should he need to do? Should the temple property be confiscated? Moreover, after the East China Government confiscated the temple property, it did not ignore these temples. First, the East China Government confiscated only the temple's property, and the incense money and donor's donation money belong to the temple. Second, the government will also give the temple a certain subsidy based on the scale of the temple, the number of monks, the value of the temple's cultural relics, and other factors. Therefore, the normal life of the temple can be maintained.

The Seventh-generation Living Buddha Zhangjia did not expect that the East China Government would investigate the temple's income so accurately. Although he didn't care about these matters, he still knew the general situation, which was basically not much different from what the East China Government said, so naturally it was difficult to say anything. Of course, he was still not convinced. After all, no matter how much income the temple had, it was the temple's industry, so why did the government take it away?

So the seventh-generation Living Buddha Zhangjia thought about it all night on the train, but he didn't come up with a clue. Later, he simply stopped thinking about it. Anyway, it is the world of the East China Government, and they have the final say on what system to adopt. Whether it is good or bad, they don't care about it. They should consider their own position first, how to gain the trust of the East China Government and ensure their own interests.

The 7th-generation Zhangjia Living Buddha and his party stayed on the train for two nights and finally arrived in Qingdao. At this time, staff from the East China Government were waiting at the station, and prepared 5 cars for them, and directly sent the 7th-generation Zhangjia Living Buddha and his party to Fahai Temple to rest.

Although they were all lying on the mattress, staying on the train for two nights still made the monks very tired. After all, they must not have a good sleep on the train. Fahai Temple had already prepared for the welcome, arranged a room for them and specially prepared a quiet room for the 7th-generation Zhangjia Living Buddha. Therefore, as soon as the monks arrived at Fahai Temple, they went back to their rooms to rest. The 7th-generation Zhangjia Living Buddha also forced a few words with the abbot of Fahai Temple and went back to their rooms to rest.

The next morning, the seventh generation Zhangjia Living Buddha and his group got up, sipped noodles and ate them. After eating the morning vegetarian, the people from the Executive Yuan also arrived. The civil committee member Zhang Yuming, who came because he should take care of all religious affairs, and he was one of the members of the Executive Yuan, which was also considered a high-level reception for the seventh generation Zhangjia Living Buddha.

After hearing this, the 7th-generation Living Buddha Zhangjia did not dare to be negligent. He hurriedly welcomed him out of the quiet room. After meeting and bowing to each other, Zhang Yuming smiled and said, "Living Buddha, welcome you to Qingdao."

The seventh generation Zhangjia Living Buddha hurriedly said, "Shame, the little monk should have come long ago."

Zhang Yuming laughed and said, "It's not too late now! As long as you are willing to cooperate with us and jointly promote China's prosperity and strength, we will welcome you at any time!"

The seventh-generation living Buddha Zhangjia hurriedly said, "Yes, I have heard of the great names of the nobles in Qinghai for a long time, and I am deeply impressed by the nobles' actions. Along the way, seeing that under the nobles' rule, the people live and work in peace and contentment are really peaceful, so I am willing to join the nobles and revitalize our China together."

Zhang Yuming also nodded and said, "Okay, okay, we welcome you. I came here to pick up the Living Buddha to our Executive Yuan. Let's go, it will take a while on the way!"

The seventh generation Zhangjia Living Buddha said: "Okay, please wait a moment before letting me change my clothes."

So the seventh-generation Zhangjia Living Buddha changed into a cassock, put on a Buddha's crown, hung up rosary and other items, and took 10 entourages to follow Zhang Yuming out of Fahai Temple. At this time, eight cars were parked at the entrance of Fahai Temple. The seventh-generation Zhangjia Living Buddha got on the car and drove towards the direction of Qingdao city.

About an hour later, the convoy arrived in front of the Executive Yuan building of the East China Government. The steps were covered with red carpets, and soldiers of honor stood on both sides.

The seventh-generation living Buddha Zhangjia came out of the car. With the help of his followers, he first sorted out the robe, Buddha crown, rosary and other objects. Under the guidance of Zhang Yuming, he climbed the steps along the carpet and came to the front of the gate.

At this time, Xia Bohai, Qin Zheng, Wang Yunpeng, Xu Jichao and others were waiting to greet him in the lobby behind the gate. The 7th-generation Zhangjia Living Buddha hurriedly took a few steps, then he greeted him respectfully, and said, "Amitabha, I have seen you all."

Xia Bohai also took two steps forward and said with a smile: "Living Buddha, don't be polite."

The seventh generation Zhangjia Living Buddha stood up and Zhang Yuming introduced him. The two shook hands again, said a few polite words, and then introduced others to him.
