Eight hundred and nineteenth Da Ming country loves me, I love Da Ming country
For the new rural areas that Su Yonglin inspected, the current days are really different from before Su Yonglin led his troops to liberate them.
In the past, it was difficult to have a full meal, but now it is no longer something to be envied or praised.
Su Yonglin examined the production status of these villages, the living standards of farmers and the results of literacy, and was quite satisfied with the results seen.
The president and instructor of this village accompanied Su Yonglin through every corner of the village, allowing Su Yonglin to see the whole picture of the village.
After walking around, Su Yonglin learned that the farmland in the village is now 40% more than before the establishment of the Ming Dynasty. In recent years, there have been many new children, and the population of the village has increased.
Because of the implementation of Su Yonglin's welfare policy of light taxes and low taxes, farmers have accumulated a lot of food, and basically no longer hungry will happen. Eating food and eating fullness is not a big problem.
The country's grain reserve system has also been operating here. Before the tax season begins every year, county specialists go to the countryside to collect grain, and at the same time pay farmers some copper coins at market prices. Then the tax collectors come down to collect copper coins directly.
In this process, farmers' coins reserves were increased, allowing farmers to begin to have the ability to save and consume.
The road construction plan promoted by Su Yonglin has also been implemented in this county. The dirt roads leading to the county town in several villages have been built, which greatly reduces the difficulty for farmers to go to the county town compared to the past.
While making it easier for villagers to go to the county town to consume, some people in the village responded to the imperial court's poultry breeding plan and sent the excess poultry that the imperial court purchased for the army to the county town for sale.
"In the past two years, more and more people have entered the county town to buy things or do small businesses. The old Ma family and Liu family in the east end of the village went to the county town to sell chickens and ducks, making a lot of money. Now they have sent their children to the county school to study.
The wife of the Zhao family at the west end of the village knows how to craft craftsmanship and often makes some small things. She also asks her family to carry them to the county town to sell them, and can also exchange them for some money. In short, there are many people who can exchange them for money, and there are also many people who go to the county town to buy things. This was something I never dared to dream of in my dreams.”
The president of the Farmers Association smiled and reported to Su Yonglin about the changes in the village. Su Yonglin nodded repeatedly, very satisfied with this.
Then he looked at Li Hao, the instructor of the village.
"The work in the village is done well. In addition to production, I am also concerned about literacy. How is the literacy going? Are adults and children in the village able to recognize words?"
Li Hao nodded.
"Your Majesty said that literacy is a very important thing, so after the village stabilized slightly, we discussed building a shed that could also protect against sun and rain, so we treated it as a classroom, so we started to literate the villagers from common words.
Children learn faster, while adults learn slower, and they can take more than half an hour every day to follow us to recognize a few words, write and draw. After a few years, the people in the village can recognize words almost the same. The ordinary imperial court documents are no longer dyslexible."
Su Yonglin was very satisfied with this and reached out to pat Li Hao on the shoulder.
“Good done.”
Li Hao's face turned red with joy.
"For adults, because they are busy with farming, they have reached the limit of teaching them to recognize words. For young children, they can teach them to recognize words and read books at the level of elementary school, and increase their cultural level. Now the young children in the village are basically reading in our sheds, and the farmers are very happy."
"No, it was not easy to recognize words and study in the past. Only good families in the village could save money and squeeze out some money to send them to the children in the private school for a year or two. After recognizing a lot of words, they came back. The main purpose was to be able to understand the official documents of the court and avoid being deceived."
Wang Erhu, president of the Farmers Association, looked lingering in fear: "Your Majesty doesn't know that the Jin thief officials here were so bad back then. They were so bad that they deceived us because we couldn't understand the court documents.
Later we learned that the court wanted to increase taxes, only 30 to 50 cents, but when it came to our heads, it turned into 200 cents. How much money did those bastards cheat us of food?"
Su Yonglin was also deeply touched by this, so he patted Wang Erhu on the shoulder.
"Yes, if you don't recognize words, you can't avoid being deceived. If you don't read, you won't understand more truths. Unfortunately, I can't let you all read. Understanding the truth is that I'm sorry to you."
"I dare not say that."
Wang Erhu's face turned red with excitement: "It is a great blessing for us mud men in the field to know a few words and fill our stomachs. We dare not think about it any more. These are all given to us by His Majesty, and we know them in our hearts."
"This is what you deserve, but in the past some bad guys snatched these things from you, and now I'll snatch them back and return them to you, guarding you."
Su Yonglin smiled and said, "Nevertheless, you must be more courageous and have more courage. If there are still people who want to steal these things back, you must dare to shine a knife at them, protect what you deserve, and not shrink back."
"Hey! I know! I know! Whoever dares to steal our land will fight them!"
Wang Erhu rubbed his hands excitedly.
"Okay, take me to that shed to see. I want to see how the children read."
Su Yonglin made a request, but of course they would not refuse, so the two led Su Yonglin to the teaching shed.
After walking for a while, Su Yonglin heard the sound of the children reciting.
[The sun and the moon shine, it is for the Ming Kingdom. The Ming Kingdom loves me, and I love the Ming Kingdom]
[One or a clear country, a family is built on a tile roof. It is said that the country is big. In fact, a family is full of the country and supports it with one hand. The family is the smallest country, and the country is tens of millions of families]
[The country is my country, the family is my home. Without a strong country, there is no rich family]
After listening for a while, Su Yonglin walked forward and stood a little farther away looking at a simple rain shed. A group of young children surrounded a young man. The young man wrote words one by one on a stone slab with a charcoal pen, and then took the children to recite.
He taught the children how to pronounce each word, and then recited each word five, six, seven or eight times, and then explained the meaning of each word to the children.
After the explanation was finished, the children were asked to pick up paper and pen to start writing on the paper. He looked at it one by one and tutored it one by one, very serious.
Su Yonglin nodded slowly.
Su Yonglin considered the Three Character Classics for enlightenment of young children and thought it was a good enlightenment textbook.
However, he then thought that the Three Character Classic was full of Confucian moral and cultural requirements such as loyalty, filial piety, integrity and fraternity, and even stupidity and filial piety. He required young children to follow the Confucian hierarchical concepts from an early age and instill such things in their children from an early age. He could only educate a group of Confucian literati who shook their heads and focused on the concept of hierarchy.
This does not meet the needs of the Ming Dynasty in the future.
Therefore, Su Yonglin presided over the relevant person in charge of the Revival Association compiled the Ming Dynasty's own enlightenment textbook, integrating the concept of family and country that is very important for the construction of the Ming Dynasty in the future into the primary school textbook, and breaking away from the traditional educational content of Confucianism.
As for some positive and good moral education, if listed separately, it will not have any connection with the Confucian system.
Beautiful moral qualities such as filial piety to parents and love brothers are natural pursuits by mankind. They naturally exist in human society and have no necessary connection with Confucianism. It is a bit unreasonable to have to involve these beautiful qualities with Confucian values.
