1362 South Vietnam needs to be tough

The news that the Ming army went south to conquer the Southern Song Dynasty had actually been known by the senior officials of South Vietnam represented by Li Tianzuo and Su Xiancheng for a long time.

They have been closely following the battle situation of Ming Dynasty's destruction of Song Dynasty, and they immediately received news that the Ming army had captured Danan Pass.

Nanyue had a small friction with Chameng Kingdom before. Su Xiancheng led the Nanyue army to a victory and fought the usurping king Zou Yana to ask for help from the Ming Dynasty, so they had no intention of competing north.

Although there have always been Northbound factions in China, because of the unpleasant and unsuccessful battles that occurred with the Northern and Southern Song Dynasty as a lesson for the past, South Vietnam never regarded Northbound as a national strategy and always maintained its vassal relationship with the Song Dynasty.

Although the Song Dynasty has always refused to admit that they are an independent country, the Li family in Nanyue has always been very upset.

However, the emergence of Ming Dynasty changed this situation and made the survival of Song Dynasty uncertain.

Once the Song Kingdom perished, it would be a problem how they should deal with the vassal relationship with the new Ming Kingdom, which caused endless debates among them.

Some people think that Ming Dynasty is a heretic and cannot get along with it and needs to fight against it. Getting along with it is a matter of trying to get along with the tiger.

Some people think that Ming Kingdom is too strong and if they don’t live in peace with him, they will be pushed directly with strong military strength, and they will die directly, and they will not even have the chance to get a skin with the tiger.

Both sides argue endlessly, and this issue cannot be resolved.

However, at this moment, this problem eventually became an urgent problem that they needed to solve, because the Ming army quickly captured Danan Pass, which meant that the Southern Song Dynasty was completely eliminated, the Ming Dynasty unified the Central Plains and Jiangnan, eliminated the separatist forces, and became a dynasty of a unified empire.

This situation made everyone in Vietnam feel very unsafe.

In addition, they learned that the Ming Emperor Su Yonglin issued an edict to confer the title of King Zou Yana of Champa, and to enthrone the usurper as king, forming a vassal relationship, which means that the Ming Dynasty had reached an alliance with Champa, and the fact that the situation of attacking the north and the south had been formed.

This undoubtedly further stimulated the uneasy atmosphere among the Southern Vietnamese court.

So while they arranged troops to guard against the madman Zou Yana on the southern border, they also gathered troops in the Lang Son area to guard against the Ming Dynasty.

Fighting on two fronts is a taboo in military strategists, but Nanyue has no choice, so it must be done.

Then the envoy of the Ming Kingdom came, came over with a swagger, and made two almost threatening demands for them.

First, stop the troops immediately and stop the war and are not allowed to continue to attack the Chameng Kingdom. The land occupied previously must be returned to the Chameng Kingdom, and no war is allowed to be launched.

Second, I heard that you call yourself the Great Yue Kingdom and the King of Nanping Li Tianzuo called himself the emperor. I don’t know if this is the case. If so, the Ming Dynasty needs a clear explanation. If not, then you have to come up with a proof.

Third, I heard that you often criticize the Ming Dynasty’s policies within, and the Ming Dynasty is very dissatisfied with this and you need to give an explanation and reasonable proof.

If there is no proof, it is hard to say what will be done in the Ming Dynasty.

Our internal self-titles and criticism of the Ming Kingdom... do we still need an explanation?

Don't you understand?

If so, isn’t this a shady threat of war?

Although the Southern Song Dynasty did not recognize the de facto independence of the South Vietnamese Kingdom in terms of legal principles, it had never interfered with the internal affairs and internal titles of the South Vietnamese Kingdom. They were the emperors themselves and did not make any statements to the outside world. What else can I say?

Moreover, almost all vassal states were like this, and the Central Plains dynasties in the past seemed to have not cared about this issue.

What's going on?

What do you want to do in Mingguo?

Isn’t what Mingguo wants to do clear at a glance?

After the Ming envoy arrived in Shenglong City, Li Tianzuo still wanted to show off his promise, but did not meet them immediately.

As a result, on the third day, news came from the south that Zou Yana, the king of Champa, was gathering his army and moving closer to the north.

On the fourth day, news came from Danan Pass that a large number of Ming troops were retreating, but a considerable number of Ming troops were still stationed here, with the number not less than 10,000. The city of Danan Pass was being renovated, and it looked like it was a permanent resident, and it also carried out large-scale martial arts exercises.

Li Tianzuo immediately felt very worried and immediately discussed this matter with trusted officials such as Su Xiancheng, Huang Yixian, and Li Gongxin.

Is Mingguo really planning to join forces with Chameng Kingdom to launch an attack on Nanyue despite the situation of the Lingnan Battle?

After discussion, the opinions of several people were basically the same, and they felt that this was likely to be a military blackmail, not a real war, but according to the reaction of the South Vietnamese court, there was a possibility of escalation into a local war at any time.

Everyone reached a unified opinion on this issue, but everyone could not reach a unified opinion on how to deal with this issue.

Su Xiancheng was a hardliner and believed that the choice of Ming to form an alliance with Chameng was itself an attitude, which meant that Ming was basically dissatisfied with the Li family of South Vietnam and was even hostile.

They knew the Southern Song Dynasty's attitude towards Nanyue, knew some things inside Nanyue, and seemed to have a covetous intention to the land of Nanyue.

But none of these are the most important.

The fundamental reason why South Vietnam must respond to the Ming Dynasty with a tough attitude is that Ming Emperor Su Yonglin's inexplicable revolutionary intentions and theoretical system had a great impact on the South Vietnamese court.

Since Su Yonglin established the Ming Kingdom through this set of plans, it fully proved the feasibility and vitality of this set of theory, and also proved that once the lower-level people are mobilized, they will be enough to subvert everything. This is really too dangerous for them.

It would be terrible that a group of mud legs could actually destroy the three Central Plains countries in a row to achieve unity after resisting.

Su Xiancheng believed that we must not compromise the military blackmail of the Ming Dynasty, and we must maintain independence, otherwise we will be killed by the Ming Dynasty with a soft knife and put everyone on the southeast branch.

They placed troops from the north and south, and their bright military deterrence also raised so many heart-wrenching questions, not even talking about the status of South Vietnam in the Ming Dynasty's vassal system.

This is obviously a military blackmail. Once South Vietnam compromises, the Ming Dynasty will definitely gain a better position.

Therefore, we must take the toughest posture.

Su Xiancheng, who read the first and second volumes of "Hongwu Political Commentary" three times, deeply realized the dangers of the Ming Dynasty, and then analyzed the current situation from his own professional perspective.

"At present, although the Ming Kingdom seems to be powerful, the Ming Kingdom, which just eliminated the Song Kingdom, has not yet established a stable foothold in Lingnan. There must be many hostile people in Lingnan who are convinced orally and dissatisfied with them. If they really fight with us, will these people be bystanders? Will they just be bystanders?

We can send people to Lingnan now and contact the chieftains who had trade with us in order to induce them in exchange for their sneak attack on the Ming army from behind when the Ming army invaded Dayue. The Ming Kingdom tried to attack me from the north and south. Can't Dayue attack the Ming Kingdom from the north and south?"

Su Xiancheng still has two tricks, and there is nothing wrong with saying this.

However, both Huang Yixian and Li Gongxin were hesitant about this.

Their personal relationship with Su Xiancheng is good, but it is useless for such military and national affairs.

Huang Yixian had a middle-aged attitude, and he was neither willing to fight with the Ming Dynasty nor compromise directly, and did nothing.

Because he had also read "Hongwu Political Commentary", he was unwilling to become a top-notch person in Su Yonglin's works, an exploiter, and then he was hung on the southeast branch.

"Although Mr. Su said that it was radical, it was not a conspiracy to plan the country, but what he said was not unreasonable. The Ming Dynasty had just conquered Lingnan and destroyed Song Dynasty. It took time to rest and recuperate, pacify the place, and start a rash war. Lingnan was unstable, and it was definitely not what the Ming Dynasty wanted to see.

Therefore, we can use this as a breakthrough point, backed by Lang Son's military, negotiate with the Ming Dynasty, understand its interests and make Ming Dynasty agree to return to the old Song Dynasty system, and never allow Ming Dynasty to interfere in our internal affairs. At the same time, we should strictly prevent Ming State from entering our country to make illegal plans!”
