Chapter 21 Exploring the Town(1/2)

When Mo Yun's first reaction was that it was true.

He had already predicted that this mission would not be that simple.

"Do you need to prepare anything?" he asked.

"Some equipment needs to be prepared." Leng Shanhong nodded, "Dr. Andre has prepared it for us."

"That's good."

Conner nodded, "Let's go as soon as possible when the weather is right."

"Okay." Mo Yun nodded, "But, Leng Shanhong will stay in the research institute this time."

"What?" Leng Shanhong was stunned for a moment, "Why?"

"Elie needs someone to take care of," Mo Yun said. "We can't take Ellie with us in such a dangerous place. But I don't think it's safe to leave her here alone."

Leng Shanhong turned her head and looked at Little Ellie who was curiously fiddling with a globe in the living room. She opened her lips and seemed to want to say something, but she didn't say it.

"Yes, I agree," Conner agreed. "And if we fail, you can take the next step to save us, or continue to do what we haven't done."

"This..." Leng Shanhong pursed her lips, "Why did I stay..."

"Of course it's because you are the weakest." Connor looked at her with a smile, "You may be strong against humans, but this time we are not facing humans, but nature."

"Haha... I really want to beat you up."

Leng Shanhong raised her fist, but slowly lowered it.

"When we come back, you can hit me again." Connor smiled.

"Hmph, whoever wants to hit you?" Leng Shanhong curled her lips.

She did not continue to refute and agreed to stay in the institute.

The three of them stopped talking and began to discuss the next action plan.

Ten minutes later, the preparatory plan and remedies for the emergencies have been confirmed.

"Okay, since that's the case, let's go."

Mo Yun waved at Ellie, picked up the long knife placed at hand and fixed it on his back.

Connor maintained a lazy attitude, like an old man who had just had breakfast, went out for a walk, following Mo Yun and walked out of the institute.

As soon as he walked out the door, a fresh and moist air wrapped the two of them.

Mo Yun looked at a green space in front of the institute's door, and then turned his gaze to the primitive jungle on the right.

According to the map display and Dr. Andrei, the town of Shangdao was originally a very prosperous and lively town with a permanent population of tens of thousands. There are hospitals and various restaurants and hotels in the town. However, after the outbreak of phytochemical disease, the plants here grew rapidly and had completely flooded the town. Apart from the roads vaguely visible under your feet, there were almost no traces of human existence.

After walking for more than a dozen steps, he stepped on a soft forest land.

With a casual movement of your body, you can touch various plants around you. The tall trees grow upwards, and the canopy is almost impossible to see. The gaps between each tree can only accommodate two people.

Vine and shrub growing horizontally and obliquely fill the road, tangled like spider webs, lying across the middle of the road, making it difficult to move forward.

Looking around, it was full of green.

Mo Yun felt as if he had walked into a primeval forest.

Moreover, it is a forest from ancient times.

The oxygen here almost gathered into a liquid state. Just after taking a breath, he felt refreshed all over, as if full of vitality.

He suddenly had an illusion, and there seemed to be a giant in front of him stepping out across the woods, roaring towards the sky, shaking the forest.

A long time ago, dinosaurs might have lived in such an environment. Only in this environment can primitive creatures of such a large size appear.

"I'll get the way," Connor said.

The young man with brown hair and red eyes walked to the front, and a layer of orange-red light that could be seen on the surface of his body appeared. Mo Yun felt the continuous heat emanating from Connor's body. Just within a few steps approaching him, he felt unbearable heat. You can imagine how high the temperature on his body was.

“To avoid explosions and forest fires, I will not release the flames directly.”

Connor explained.

"very good."

Mo Yun nodded calmly, concealing his inner surprise well.

After experiencing the first survival game, he has learned to remain calm and hide his inner emotions.

As soon as he encountered a plant blocking the way, Connor walked over naturally.

All plants that touch his body instantly turned black and smelled like a paste, the leaves rolled up, and the vines retreated.

In this way, their progress was almost not blocked or difficult.

There are human-shaped torches like Connor who open the way. Although it is a little hot, Mo Yun has to admit that this ability is very practical.

"Are there any awakened people with other abilities in this parallel world? What will those people look like?" he thought to himself.

The two gradually penetrated into the jungle.

As we move further forward, the plants on both sides of the road begin to sparse, the spacing between trees expands, the vines and shrubs blocking the road are also reduced, and the view in front of us gradually becomes wider.

“We’re in town.”

Connor used his hand to open the branch on his right hand, and a plastic sign appeared in front of the two of them, with four big words painted in red paint: "Going Island Town".

They continued to move forward, and some traces of houses and streets appeared on both sides of the road.

Green vines climbed out from the exterior walls of the houses on both sides of the road, wrapping the entire houses in it. The originally normal town green tiles and red walls have disappeared, and only a piece of green remains.

The houses on both sides have all turned into tree houses in the forest.

Weeds and bushes grew and emerged from the cracks of the bricks.

There was no one on the street, and even cars could not be seen.

It was very quiet around, with only the sound of birds and unknown insects in the forest.

"It's a paradise."

The flames on Connor's body gradually disappeared, and he slowly paced in the middle of the streets of the town, looking at the dark green world around him.

When humans disappear, plants slowly erode the buildings, and the originally artificial community gathering places return to part of nature - this kind of scene is shocking and can never be forgotten once you see it.

Mo Yun quietly looked at the houses wrapped in plants and the streets full of soil around him. Looking at the town in front of him that was gradually being eaten by plants, he couldn't help but feel the calm from the inside out from the bottom of his heart.

In this world, nature is the true mother of mankind.

She raised everything, tolerated everything, and cherished everything.

Everything that humans create will disappear.

Nature will receive everything, including human corpses, and human creations.

In the end, what else can people leave behind?

Mo Yun quietly walked through the town streets.

The originally bustling and lively town has now become the home of various creatures.

Mo Yun saw black ants crawling around the roadside. In some places, the ants gathered in a circle and formed a black ball. They crawled around a place without leaving, as if they were holding some special ceremony.

Surprisingly, the ants here are surprisingly large.

In Mo Yun's impression, ants are the size of their fingernails, and if you don't look carefully, you can't even see them. But each of the ants here is the size of a fingernail.

Each one looks almost as big as a cockroach in the north.

This may sound nothing, but what if thousands of ants gather together?

Instead of causing trouble, he avoided the ants and continued to move forward.

A few minutes later, the blade on the right side of the road was lifted open, and a black-brown monster rushed out. Mo Yun heard the sound early and immediately dodged. Connor did not take action rashly and observed quietly.

The monster is about the size of a jeep, but it is a little longer than the jeep. It is dark brown and has a neat and uniform body like a ladder.

A pair of hideous feet slashed the ground, allowing it to shuttle through the jungle at lightning speed. The two pairs of giant tentacles above its head were shaking gently, as if confirming the smell of Mo Yun and the others to determine whether they were food.

Mo Yun held the long sword behind him with his hand and was ready to fight at any time.

A flame also ignited in Connor's palm.

Quiet.

The monster stared at the two of them without blinking.

Perhaps out of caution, or perhaps because he sensed the dangerous aura of Mo Yun and the others, it did not choose to attack, but confronted Mo Yun and the others for a while, then waved hundreds of short brown feet and turned around and left.

"That thing just now..."

After it left, Mo Yun found that he had cold sweat on his back and goose bumps appeared on his arms.

"I didn't see it close."

Conner hesitated, "But look away from it, it looks like a centipede?"

"Yes, it's a centipede."

Mo Yun tightened the long knife behind him and tried hard to calm himself down.
