Chapter 16 The Prophet

Branagh, the fifteenth floor of the New Century Building.

Mo Yun pushed open the door, and Verina was waiting outside.

"Is that OK?" he asked.

"Yes." Verina said respectfully.

"You lead the way."

Verena nodded and walked in front, Mo Yun and Leng Shanhong followed behind. They walked through the corridor covered with the red carpet and followed the steps leading to the fourteenth floor to the lower floor. The "Prophet" lived here.

"Mr. Mo, why do you want to see the Prophet?" asked Verina.

"I have some questions to ask her." Mo Yun replied.

"Well. But she's not in good shape." Verina said cautiously, "Since predicting the outbreak of phytochemicals a few weeks ago, she has to have daily infusions."

"I will pay attention." Mo Yun said.

"That's good." Verina seemed relieved. She took Mo Yun and the others to the innermost room on the corridor on the 14th floor and knocked on the door lightly.

A few seconds later, a waiter opened the door.

A gentle female voice came from inside, "You go out first." Then several waiters in white robes came out one after another and stood in the corridor waiting.

Verina nodded to Mo Yun and Leng Shanhong, and they walked into the room together.

The room is very large, even if it is a party of twenty people, it is more than enough. Opposite the main entrance is a wide square floor-to-ceiling window, with red carpets on the floor, light yellow wallpaper on the walls, and the air conditioner above the head is releasing heating. After entering the room, Mo Yun's gaze was unconsciously attracted to a girl next to the floor-to-ceiling window.

The girl was in a wheelchair, with a glass bottle hanging on the shelf behind the wheelchair. She just sat quietly, looking very weak, but for some reason, Mo Yun felt that she occupied the center of the room, and his attention and vision were unconsciously attracted to the girl, as if a huge sucking stone was placed on her body.

He observed the girl carefully.

The girl was wearing a pure white cotton robe, barefoot, exposed her arms, fair skin, and pretty. Judging from her age, the girl was about the same age as Mo Yun, both in her twenties. She had a white ribbon tied on her forehead, draped her long soft black hair behind her back, and drooped from her shoulders, making her look quiet and beautiful.

"Xia Mei..." Verina said softly.

"I know what you are going to do." The girl interrupted Verina gently, "You go out first."

"Okay, don't force yourself." Verina instructed and left the room.

"Please sit down." The girl smiled and pointed to the sofa in front of her.

Mo Yun and Leng Shanhong immediately sat down and faced with the girl.

"I am Mo Yun, this is Leng Shanhong." In order to avoid embarrassment, Mo Yun took the initiative to introduce.

"My name is Shido Natsumi." The girl said with a smile.

"Are you from Hijima?" Leng Shanhong said curiously.

"Yes." Xia Mei nodded, "I came to Branagh before the disaster broke out."

"You've guessed it in advance?"

"I didn't know at the time, but I just thought something terrible would happen." Xia Mei shook her head. Mo Yun found that her pupils were dark purple. "I did a simple divination and found that Branagh was a safe place and a key point to reverse everything, so I came here in advance."

"Why are you..." Leng Shanhong asked in a low voice.

"This is the price of prophecy." Xia Mei showed a calm smile on her face. "This world is balanced, it is fair, and you have to pay the corresponding price if you want to get. I have paid the price, but I think it is worth the money to use it in exchange for the peace of a city."

"You are really amazing." Leng Shanhong exclaimed.

Xia Mei did not respond to Leng Shanhong's praise, but turned to look at Mo Yun next to her and asked softly: "Do you have nothing to ask?"

Mo Yun was silent for a moment, "Can you see, do I want to ask any questions?"

Xia Mei stared at Mo Yun with a smile. Her purple pupils were so deep. Mo Yun looked at her and felt that his soul was about to be sucked in. He hurriedly withdrew his gaze.

"If you don't ask, even if I know the answer, I won't tell you." The girl said playfully.

At this time, she showed a hint of innocence and liveliness of her peers. When she smiled, she was very warm, as if the ice and snow would melt in front of her.

"Then I won't ask." Mo Yun also smiled.

"Huh?" Xia Mei was stunned for a moment.

"I'll find the answer to this question myself. Its price doesn't need you to bear." Mo Yun looked at the wheelchair under the girl deeply, then stood up and nodded slightly, "I'm very happy to see you."

He then turned around and left.

"Are you going back now?" Leng Shanhong murmured, then turned her face and looked at Xia Mei, but found that she was staring firmly at Mo Yun's back as she left, with a sad expression and a loss.

"What are you thinking?" Leng Shanhong said curiously.

"Nothing." Xia Mei looked away and turned to Leng Shanhong, "Do you have anything else to ask?"

"Ahem...I..." Leng Shanhong suddenly felt a little speechless.

"You will succeed. The goal you want to achieve will be achieved, but the process will be twists and turns." Xia Mei turned the wheelchair over, faced the floor-to-ceiling window, stared at the city in the distance, and said lightly.

"What?" Leng Shanhong was shocked, "How do you know what I want to ask? Also, will you not harm your body if you tell me like this?"

"It's just a vague prophecy, there will be no problem." Xia Mei said, "Don't forget, I'm a prophet."

"Ah...by the way, the prophet..." Leng Shanhong murmured.

"If there is no problem, you can go back." Xia Mei suddenly became cold.

"Okay, OK. Goodbye." Leng Shanhong stood up a little hurriedly. She suddenly felt like she was seen through her whole body. She suddenly felt a little chilled, and hurriedly said goodbye and hurried out of the room.

Quiet.

The room suddenly fell into silence.

The girl stared at the city in the distance, and the gray and white buildings piled up together, changing into a blurred shadow, vaguely turning into countless fragments of images and sounds, as if they were cutting through space, crossing the boundaries of time, connecting the past and the future together.

Her pupils were deep, looking into the void in the distance.

"Does he really remember me?"

Xia Mei murmured to herself, "What happened to him?" Her fingers were tightly clenched, "But I could feel that there was no big problem with him, and what he wanted to do would not fail... Has he lost some of his memory? But he was still the same as before, and he had always been like this, just thinking of carrying everything alone..."

The whole thing was quiet, with only the sound of the medicine drops in the drip.

Xia Mei sighed, and a crystal clear tears flashed faintly at the corners of her eyes.

...

...

Mo Yun returned to his room.

Somehow, the moment he saw Xia Mei, he felt a sense of trance. That feeling was like meeting a very familiar person, but he could never remember her name.

Moreover, from his personal perspective, he was unwilling to make a strange girl pay the price to find an answer. Although Natsumi might answer it for him, that was not what he wanted to see.

When he first saw the wheelchair under the girl, he felt a pain.

A girl who should be in her youth can only sit in a wheelchair and have infusions every day, and this is because of the price she paid to save a city and even more people.

He had completely understood Verina's concerns, and he shouldn't ask any questions to Nami anymore.

What's more, what he wanted to ask was not whether it could solve phytochemical disease, but was related to the survival game itself and the "unknown existence". Such a question must have exceeded the scope of the girl's answer.

After returning to the room, Mo Yun felt a little tired.

Since he came to this world, he has not had a rest for a moment and his spirit has been in a relatively tense state. Now he is in a warm and comfortable room, and he can't help but want to sleep for a while.

He called Verina and the opposite side quickly picked it up.

"Hello."

"It's me." Mo Yun said, "I want to sleep for a while. If an emergency occurs, please wake me up."

"Okay, you have a good rest," said Verina.

"OK."

Mo Yun hung up the phone and looked at the time. It was almost noon. According to local time, it should be close to 11:30 noon. The sun is hot, but it is not dazzling.

He pulled up the curtains and lay on the bed, the soft cushion relaxing him.

He fell asleep quickly.

...

When I woke up, it was already dark.

He opened his eyes and the room was dim. He raised his hand and looked at his watch. It was nine-thirty at night. Mo Yun stretched and got up from the bed. He felt as if the dry lake was filled with lake water.

He walked into the bathroom and just after washing up, he heard the door being knocked.

"Bang bang bang!"

The knock on the door was a little quick, and the other party seemed to be very anxious.

He walked to the door and opened it. Verina, wearing a white robe, was standing outside the door. Leng Shanhong stood next to her. She was wearing a tight purple combat suit, outlining her slender figure, and her black bangs still covered her left eye, looking mysterious and beautiful.

"Mr. Mo, something happened." Verina said.

"What's wrong?"

"The headquarters of the Holy Plant Society, someone was infected with plants. Now the special service team has rushed over and the scene is very chaotic. If the phytochemical disease spreads, our entire city will have a big crisis." Verina said hurriedly.

"Oh?" Mo Yun narrowed his eyes, "Where is Connor?"

"Mr. Conner has already rushed over first," said Verina.

"Since that's the case, let's wait for his news." Mo Yun said.

"Don't you go?"

"No." Mo Yun thought for a while and changed his words: "But this is indeed good news for us. Our goal is the Saint Child, and the Saint Child is closely protected by the people of the Saint Pipe Society. Now it is in chaos. We seize the opportunity to sneak in and take the Saint Child away, which is also a solution." He turned to Leng Shanhong, "What do you think?"

"I think it's feasible." Leng Shanhong nodded.
