Chapter 420

In the evening, we came to the night safari, known as the most special zoo in Asia.

According to the tour guide, there are two routes to visit the night zoo, one is a car route and the other is a sidewalk. There are places where the two routes do not overlap, and if one is missing, some animals will not be able to see them. Get on the bus first. Take the bus around the night zoo, which takes about 40 minutes. The bus is relatively fast, so you can only take a quick look at the entire zoo.

When I saw a few lions, I didn’t care at first. This kind of thing was found in a zoo. Even if it was raised very well, it was a lion. Even the big white lion on it was not too concerned. Unexpectedly, a group of strange lions appeared. They had their belly drooping and had many wrinkles on it...

Is it actually a rare Asian lion after hearing the introduction?

There are also lions in Asia, why don’t you know? Because there are too few. They were once widely distributed in Central Asia and South Asia, but now they are almost extinct. If the Indians hadn’t left some blood for them, the Asian lions would have been gone long ago. Currently, there are only a few hundred Asian lions around the world, and you can see nearly 10 at the Singapore Night Zoo.

One of the charms of the night zoo is that you can see the behavior of animals at night. The overall environment is very dark, and the brightest animal exhibition area is only a lamp with a brightness similar to the full moon. For those animals that adapt to extremely dark environments, the lights in the cages are particularly dim, and in some cages, the lights are even dark red, which is to minimize the impact on the behavior of nocturnal animals. Therefore, if you look closely, you can find many interesting natural behaviors.

The red muntjac is a small deer, which is only as big as a big dog, and is more prone to neuroticism. In the picture above, there is a male red muntjac with beautiful horns and good physical condition. The fur is smooth and smooth. Around it, there is also a female deer...

Suddenly I found a little thing walking around in the dark? Maybe it was in the middle of the night, and the female deer relaxed a lot and took the little guy out for a walk, and then met us tourists. It was the first time that Johnson saw a red deer cub and couldn't help but want to get closer.

At this time, the deer were a little nervous, and something interesting happened. The female deer left the cub and walked straight towards the male deer lying on the ground. The male deer did not move, but watched the female deer walking around him. The abandoned cub turned around and walked away from the female deer, hid in the shadow of a tree, and did not move:

If I hadn't observed the whole process, I wouldn't have found the deer under the dark dark tree. This way of dealing with it should be the strategy of the silly deer cubs to avoid the enemy: hide in the shadows by themselves, and my mother will lead the enemy away.

The result was wrong. The tour guide said that the little one was not a squid, nor a cub, but a strong deer. There was a small fang on his mouth. Hiding in the dark without moving is the strong deer's strategy to defend against enemies at night.

In English, muntjac is also called dog barking deer. It means that they bark like dogs when encountering enemies. This sound has not been heard just now, and it seems that the muntjac is not very nervous.

Those arrogant predators were much more moving at night, such as spotted hyenas. When we first saw the group of spotted hyenas, they were still quiet and the years were quiet.

After a while, the feeding keeper came out. As soon as he approached, the spotted hyenas were in a bad mood...

When a few pieces of meat were thrown in, the dogs started scrambling. Several spotted hyenas shouted in excitement. For a moment, the laughter kept floating in the night sky. The screams of spotted hyenas really looked very similar to the strange laughter of humans.

Just Asian cats, you can see tigers, leopards, clouded leopards, Asian golden cats, leopard cats, and fishing cats. In Chinese, the bumble among dragons, tigers, leopards are golden cats. It is said that the three strokes of this character are pictograms of vertical patterns on the head of the golden cat.

This kind of Asian native medium-sized cat animal is tangled with muscles and looks powerful. Johnson especially likes it. Even if he travels all over the world, it is the first time he has seen it.

The night zoo shows fishing cats, which are very large. There are trees that can be climbed high and pools to catch fish, but they are relatively open. When fishing cats come out and wander at night, they can be easily seen. Fishing cats are special forces in the cat department, with webbed feet, and are especially good at catching fish.

In addition to cats, there are also mice. At night, there is a large net cage in the zoo, which houses squirrels. People can get into this big cage and look for squirrels, bats and several species of birds between the branches. At night, the squirrels have shiny glasses and are very cute.

In Johnson's view, a good zoo will also become the home of small wild animals in the place, which can be supplemented by these animals. Pay special attention to the display of wild bats here. In the zoo at night, you can often see bananas hanging on trees on the open air and signs introducing wild bats. Look at the bananas carefully. If you are lucky, you will encounter several cute little guys gingering greedily.

The leopard trail focuses on displaying more mysterious animals living on the Eurasian continent, especially the rare cats on weekdays, which can attract tourists to stop. Behind a glass curtain wall, you can see the most rare clouded leopard and golden cat walking at home, you can see the leopards pushing branches and leaves from the dense forest and walking towards you, and you can see the rare Asian lion's lazy sleeping position.

To measure the level of a zoo, you can tell by looking at how many kinds of leopards are raised. Leopards are smaller than lions and tigers, often not taken seriously, have a more sensitive personality, and have a greater reaction to negative effects, so they are easy to be unable to raise them well.

But it is precisely because of their small size that the investment in making a cage that meets their needs will not be particularly large. So leopards can be used as an indicator. As long as a zoo is willing to invest money and energy on leopards and keep leopards well, then the zoo will not be bad.

Unfortunately, the leopards and clouded leopards here are not well-raised, and they have obvious stereotyped behaviors. The clouded leopard only has three legs. It either doesn’t move very well on the climbing frame or goes down the ground and then walk back. The stereotyped behavior of the leopard is even more obvious, and it keeps spinning around.

Of course, these two venues still seem to have put some thought into it. The vegetation is very good and there are three-dimensional climbing frames. But the biggest flaw should be that the space is really not big enough. I don’t know if this result is a compromise to night display.

The Fisherman's Trail is the starting point of the four pedestrian zones in the night safari, named after the trail. It mainly displays many mysterious nocturnal animals in the tropical Asian region. Walking around, the exhibition area is distributed on both sides of the trail, and comes when testing your eyesight.

Here you can see cats and fishing cats who are not afraid of water, well-behaved and cute Malay pangolins, and mammals such as bears and coconut civets who come and go freely in the night. They pass by the water, and you can also pay attention to whether there are crocodiles swimming through the water beside you.
