Chapter 516: Othello of Rzhev

Major Soschak, the logistics officer of the Kalinin Front, rushed to Mozaisk, who had just been occupied by the 39th Army.

The 39th Army had just made a gap in Germany's defense line, and tens of thousands of troops were rushing into the gap like a tide.

The German army on the opposite side was the 197th Division of the German Army, which massacred the famous female guerrilla Zoya.

The two sides kept tug of war on the positions, and the death harvesters on the German positions spewed out the fire snakes, and rows of Soviet soldiers rushed up fell in pools of blood.

But the Soviet soldiers seemed to be endless. They crawled out of the trenches with the slogan of revenge for Zhuoya and rushed out of the trenches to meet the machine gun bullets.

More than a dozen tanks were mixed in the charge tide and headed towards the German positions.

Seven or eight tanks and assault guns were also revealed on the German positions.

Two anti-tank dogs suddenly emerged from the foxglove pit, and the wooden poles more than half a foot long on the dog's back could be clearly seen in the artillery fire.

Puff! Puff!

An anti-tank dog fell to the ground, and another anti-tank dog drilled under a German tank No. 3. With a loud bang, the tank was filled with thick smoke.

The cover on the tank was lifted, and a German soldier climbed out halfway out of his body and was hit by a bullet and lay motionless on the tank.

As a logistics officer, Soschak did not rush up. He was assigned to the front line by Major General Zaharov, Chief of Staff of the Kalinin Front, to investigate the supply of military supplies.

Although the war has been going on for half a year, the logistics supply is still often chaotic. Anti-tank guns get mortar shells, and cannons get howitzer shells, which consumes huge logistics supplies, but every unit is in urgent need of supplies.

Although the enemy has been driven one hundred kilometers away from Moscow, their threat to Moscow has not been eliminated.

This time, the huge offensive launched by the Red Army was to eliminate all the enemies of the Lezhev's outcrop.

However, the German army on the opposite side was very tenacious in defense. The blood-stained German soldiers also knew that for their troops, the Red Army would not accept their surrender and could only fight to the end.

The Red Army's attack was repelled by the Germans. Southchak raised his head slightly and looked forward. It seemed that a branch was stretched out from the trench not far ahead. After closer inspection, he found that it was an arm stretching out the trench.

On the battlefield where bullets and shells fly around, the arms that stick out will soon be damaged and broken.

"coward!"

A special officer next to Southchak cursed and carefully climbed out of the trench and crawled towards that arm.

But he had just climbed out two or three meters and was hit by a bullet flying from afar and lay down on the ground and stopped moving.

“There are snipers on the chimney!”

Another special officer shouted at a half-chimney a hundred meters away opposite.

The 47mm anti-tank gun fired two shells, and the chimney a hundred meters away collapsed amid the explosion.

The special officer who discovered the sniper just now immediately climbed out of the trench and crawled towards his arm that was still stretched out of the trench. He climbed to the point where he reached out his arm and took out a pistol and shot three or four times into the trench.

Southchak knew that the soldier who wanted to be injured and escaped from death was dead.

"Where is the 771st Regiment?" Southchak asked the special officer who had just climbed back.

The special officer pointed to the northwest.

Southchak walked in the trench for a while and then carefully climbed to the northwest towards the ground.

A day ago, the unit reported a lack of ammunition, but the logistics supply convoy had already set off.

Upon order from his superior, Soschak was going to see the group with his own eyes.

The hard mud and ice cubes caused by the shell explosion kept hitting him, and bullets kept flying over less than half a foot of his body.

Southchak climbed four or five hundred meters before finding the place where others guided him.

An officer was pulling the trigger, and the Teggalev heavy machine gun kept firing at the opposite side.

Southchak noticed the sign of the political commissar on the officer's armband.

"Comrade Major, where is the 771st Group?" asked Southchak.

"All are here! These Fritz bastards want to capture us alive, don't think so!" the officer replied while shooting.

Looking down the trenches, he could see only a dozen people! There were only so many people left in a group of two days.

Southchak felt that there was no need to ask about the logistics supply situation now. He wanted to go back immediately to report what he saw on the battlefield.

Moreover, based on his intuition, Soschak's attack has been frustrated, and what comes next is likely to be the German counterattack.

Two days later, Soschak escaped from his death and returned to the headquarters of the Kalinin Front. The 39th Army he had been to was surrounded by the counterattacking Germans.

After reporting to Chief of Staff Zaharov, Soschak returned to his tent dormitory. Second Lieutenant Pokursky followed him into the tent and put down the curtains casually.

"Roll up the curtains and don't be afraid of being seen by people outside. The more you block them, the more suspicion it will be." Southchak said.

Pokursky asked quietly while rolling the curtains: "How is the front line?"

"The Thirty-Nine Army has been surrounded, which is very dangerous. If I leave one day late, I will be inside now," replied Southchak.

Soschak and Pokursky have one thing in common, that is, they are both Polish.

Soschak was developed into an intelligence officer by the Polish intelligence service a few years ago, and Pokursky was the intelligence officer he secretly developed.

It turned out that Soschak was just a small lieutenant in the Red Army and was not important in the Polish intelligence organization. However, in the beginning of the war, he had been promoted to major.

But now Soschak's superior has also changed. He is now working for the European intelligence organization led by Colonel Onode Nakata, the military officer in Sweden.

It doesn't matter who you work for. Both Soschak and Pokursky have a common belief in their hearts, that is, whoever is willing to help Poland restore its country will be friends.

"Send a report immediately, the news I just received is that the Fourth Airborne Army will soon carry out airborne behind the German army. The 20th Brigade airborne to Geranier, and the 8th Brigade airborne to Ozerechnia." said Soschak.

"Okay, I'll send a report immediately after I go back." Pokursky replied.

"Be careful not to arouse suspicion," Southchak instructed.

Three days later, Ono from the intelligence squad of the Kanto Army Intelligence Department came to report to the Director of the Yanagida Motozo.

"The news of Othello has been transferred from Sweden." Ono Takiki said, and put a telegram on the desk of Shinzo Yanagida.

Japanese military officer Tonoji Nobuna could have handed over Soschak's intelligence to the Germans in Stockholm. However, the enemy intelligence personnel from the neutral Swedish country were everywhere. In order to ensure that he sent the information to the Kwantung Army's Intelligence Department, and then handed over it to the Germans in Harbin.
