019. Pottery and carpentry shop

The legendary Old Beijing Tianqiao is a variety show where juggling troupes gather and are unique in their own way. In fact, it is just a place where some poor artists set up stalls and make a living. Xiao Han thought he could see the lively scenes of big rocks on his chest, sleeping on nail boards, raising a knife, climbing a pole, dancing forks, and shaking diabolos. However, when he walked further, it was a market for craftsmen's workshops.

Xiao Han bent into a carpenter shop along the way. There was a wooden flat forehead standing at the door, with only three words: pottery carpenter. The shop was not big, it was a long and narrow hall with three wooden shelves on both sides of the wall side to the top. Some wooden utensils were placed scattered, including pine pen holders, oak bowls, mahogany chopsticks, square wooden cups, etc. There were coffee tables and round tables at the corners of the wall. In fact, they were just placing patterns to see the skills.

Xiao Han turned around casually, and saw that the handmade gadgets were very good, so he asked the guy who was looking at the store:

“Can you customize items here?”

The young man was eleven or twelve years old and looked very smart. Seeing that the young master was wearing very well-made clothes and had a servant around him to serve him, he knew that he was a rich guest, so he was very attentive.

"Uncle, as long as you can tell, we can do anything here, so that you can be satisfied."

Xiao Han smiled, the child was very angry, so he said to him:

"Then you go and get paper and pen. I'll draw the picture on the paper and you can do it as you like."

When the guy heard this, he was anxious. He couldn't even explain this thing, and he had to draw it. It seemed like a troublesome object.

The guy quickly bowed to Xiao Han:

"Uncle, why don't you wait a little longer, I have to call my dad over."

After saying that, the young man turned around and ran towards the backyard. After a while, a middle-aged man in his thirties came in first. The young man followed him. The two looked 80% similar in their faces. It turned out that they were father and son.

Xiao Han took the paper and pen, brushed twice and drew a toothbrush and a matching toothbrush cup, and handed it to the pottery carpenter.

The middle-aged man looked carefully and was a little confused because he had never seen a toothbrush. However, when he saw the teacup behind him, his eyes suddenly lit up. The style of this teacup is actually very ordinary, just a round cup, but a curved wooden handle is painted on the cup! A teacup with a handle is really a good idea.

Carpenter Tao raised his head in surprise and said to Xiao Han:

"Uncle, this teacup you drew is so good. Can it be made specifically by a villain?"

Xiao Han was stunned for a moment and realized it instantly. At first he just felt that when he rinsed his mouth in the morning, there was no handle on the teacup, so it was really inconvenient to hold it. He really didn't expect that this might be an exclusive product.

It turned out that the tea sets of that era were generally round and smooth. When the porcelain was introduced to the West, round handles were added to the side of the tea sets and coffee cups.

Xiao Han was also very casual, and smiled and said to Carpenter Tao:

"As long as you can do two things I custom-made, I don't care about the rest."

Then, Xiao Han carefully told the pottery carpenter about his special production requirements for two things. For example, the bristles of the toothbrush use hot boar bristles, which should not exceed one knuckle length. The toothbrush head is flat and round, so it should be as small as possible and polished as smooth as possible. The handle of the toothbrush cup must be smooth, and the size should be just right to be held by your hands.

Xiao Han finally asked Carpenter Tao again, how much does it cost to customize ten sets of samples first?

The carpenter bowed repeatedly, how could he accept his money? He just kept saying:

"Uncle, if you don't ask the little one to collect money, the villain will thank you very much. Since you agree to let the little one make these two objects, the little one may make a lot of money?"

Xiao Han felt that the ancient people were very smart and honest. He simply said:

"Okay, I'm not polite to you, I'll teach you another benefit. Please help me make a few sets of small toothbrushes and cups. The bristles of the toothbrush are smaller, cut short, and the handle should be shorter. As for the outer ring of the toothbrush, you can carve birds, pony, rabbits, etc. This small toothbrush is used for a few children in my family. Do you understand?"

Carpenter Tao smiled with a curved smile, staring at Xiao Han with bright eyes, and thought to himself: This master is really a treasure!

Xiao Han also smiled and joked about Carpenter Tao:

"You have to prepare the things I ordered first and then do your big business."

The Carpenter Tao and his eldest son were full of joy on their faces. While bowing, they thanked Xiao Han for giving them a lot of gratitude.

When Xiao Han was walking on the street, Shuangxi, who had never said anything, suddenly couldn't help but ask:

"Master, those two things will be very profitable, right? Why don't you ask the Interior Office to do it?"

Xiao Han was happy. He was a little follower, but he still told the little guy:

"There are many ways to make money. What I have to do is big business. These small things are all about people's livelihood. If you don't compete with the people for profit, you should refer to these people. If you change to those rich businessmen, it will be different."

Xiao Han finally told Shuangxi again. After a few days, he sent him out of the palace to pick it up. Shuangxi also remembered that if it was sold to the public in the future, what price would it be?

Xiao Han smiled and joked with this little confidant:

"Shuangxi, if this thing is useful, I will ask the headmaster in the mansion to buy it together, and I will give you a set of envoys to each of you in the future. But I am waiting, and it will be even more interesting to see what the headmasters will offer when they come back from buying this thing."

After hearing this, Shuangxi shuddered.

The emperor wandered around leisurely and bought a few strings when he saw the candied haws. When he saw the dough-maker, he also came forward to pinch a few.

The emperor asked Shuangxi to take it and said with a smile:

"Let's go back and send it to the third prince. I didn't teach him how to calculate in the afternoon, so I must be crying."

The emperor walked for a while and happened to pass by a very lively cake shop. The emperor also walked in with the crowd.

The emperor chose a few desserts that he thought were delicious, and asked the guy to pick each dessert for half a pound.

Shuangxi stood beside the emperor, muttering in her heart, why did the emperor only weigh half a pound of snacks? It's too little.

Then, Shuangxi immediately heard the emperor say the following sentence:

"Man, pack it up as you like this, pack thirty copies."

The emperor turned around and told Shuangxi:

"Shuangxi, remember to give it to me when you go back. All the old ladies, wives, young masters and ladies in the family, one serving for each person. Don't forget anyone."

Shuangxi immediately silent and said to the emperor timidly:

"Master, it seems not enough."

The emperor was also silent, calm and turned his head and said to the guy:

“Twenty more.”

A silent ending -

Although the emperor only bought half a pound of each snack, seven or eight varieties, plus a total of fifty copies. On the way back to the palace, on average, every imperial guard was carrying a big bag behind him. He was so tired.

More tragic notes:

The weight standard in ancient times is a little different from that in modern times. 1 jin in modern times = 500 grams, while 1 jin in ancient times = about 700 grams.

How much weight does it have?
