Chapter 8 The Feng family has a daughter who grows up at the beginning

When it comes to Shanghai in the 1920s, one term has to be mentioned, that is, "concession".

The so-called concession refers to the legal residence of foreigners (land nationalization) established on the territory of one of the countries after two countries negotiate a lease or concession charter.

In China, it refers to the abbreviation of the leased land that imperialist powers forcibly obtained in China through unequal treaties in modern history.

There are public concessions and French concessions in Shanghai. Public concessions are formed by the merger of the original British concessions and American concessions.

The French Concession belonged to part of the French colonial empire and was dominated by the French Governor in Indochina.

The Shanghai Public Concession is a local autonomous body for local foreign expatriates. It is not directly dominated and managed by any foreign consul or even British consul. It is a highly autonomous autonomous body.

Due to the large influx of foreign capital, the concession became the most prosperous area in Shanghai at that time.

The concession is concentrated in most of Shanghai's commercial and financial institutions, with a developed retail industry, numerous newspapers and theaters, as well as the best hotels and hospitals.

Being able to have a property in the concession is a symbol of identity and status.

The institution that manages the French Concession is called the Public Directorate Bureau, and the institution that manages the public Concession is called the Works Department Bureau.

Before 1914, neither the Public and Directors Bureau nor the Industrial Bureau had Chinese directors.

However, as the Chinese became increasingly powerful in the concession, in 1914, the Public Directors Bureau of the French Concession increased the quota of three Chinese directors, thus opening up the situation of co-governance between China and the United States.

The Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Public Concession did not add three Chinese directors until 1928.

According to regulations, three Chinese directors in the French Concession assisted in the management of the French Concession, but were not qualified to participate, that is, they only had the right to participate and no right to make decisions.

Even so, these three Chinese directors have great energy in the French Concession.

The reason why I introduced so much is because it is related to Lin Zixuan's blind date. The father of the woman he was going to date is one of the three Huadongs in the French Concession.

Feng Jingyao, the president of the Feng Chamber of Commerce, is a big shot in the Shanghai Qing Gang, and has a great influence in the French Concession.

His only daughter, Feng Chengcheng, was Lin Zixuan's blind date.

Lin Zixuan was shocked when he heard the news. Is this a joke?

He naturally watched the popular "Shanghai Bund" decades later, and also knew who Feng Jingyao and Feng Chengcheng were, but weren't that fictional characters?

Have I traveled to the TV series?

With such a question, he asked someone for some inquiries.

This is not difficult at all. Feng Jingyao's origins are clear.

This person is from Yuyao, Zhejiang. He first worked as an apprentice in a shop in Shanghai, and later worked as a police officer in the French Concession. After joining the Qing Gang, he became a small leader and became a big shot in decades.

His Feng's business mainly operates ** and casinos, and also involves entertainment industries such as dance halls and theaters. He controls the underground forces of the French Concession and is huge in scale.

Feng Chengcheng is Feng Jingyao's only daughter and is very fond of her. She is currently in school in Peking.

He has a gang background. Although he looks glorious, he also hides a crisis. He hopes that his daughter can marry into a serious family and live a peaceful life.

If the Lin family wants to gain a foothold in the concession and establish a private bank, they need to rely on Feng Jingyao's power in the French concession, and Feng Jingyao also needs a bank to launder money for him.

This is a matter of mutual benefit.

Lin Zixuan has no resistance to such arranged marriages. There are a lot of leftover men who want to get married in later generations, and it is not a good habit to pick and choose.

After returning to Shanghai, he has been playing his role at home safely, for fear of being exposed.

Fortunately, he stayed abroad for two years, and even if he had any omissions, he would make excuses for "not remembering". No one was bored and asked the bottom line, allowing him to spend the New Year safely.

His father, Lin Boqing, runs a printing and dyeing factory. For this son who returned from studying abroad, he did not expect that Lin Zixuan would be able to inherit the family business, but instead allowed him to enter the financial industry and establish the Lin Commercial Bank.

Lin Zixuan had no choice but to agree. Anyway, the Lin family had run a money shop before, but now it has just been upgraded to a bank.

After the Chinese New Year, he submitted the manuscript of "The Legend of the Condor Heroes" and looked forward to the reply.

This is his first step to becoming a literary giant.

However, before the newspaper could get news, the news of the blind date came first, and the eldest lady of the Feng family wanted to meet him.

Lin Zixuan came to a Western restaurant in the French Concession with curiosity, found a seat to sit down, and looked through the newspaper.

He looked up inadvertently and saw two women walking in. He recognized the person at once. Isn’t the one in front of him Feng Chengcheng in "Shanghai Bund"?

He is really familiar with the actress Zhao Yazhi who plays Feng Chengcheng.

Well, I did travel to the TV series.

He had to admit this.

It was Feng Chengcheng and her classmate Wang Yueqi who came, both of whom were students from Peking Women's Middle School.

In the atmosphere of the new trend of thought in Peking, it has influenced countless young people, wanting to become young people in the new era, resist the feudal family, and strive for independence and freedom.

Feng Chengcheng just turned seventeen and didn't want to get married so early. She wanted to go to college and become a new woman.

So she was extremely opposed to the arranged marriage of her family. She heard that Lin Zixuan returned from studying abroad and felt that they were young people who accepted new ideas and should have a common language and stand on the same front.

This is why she wants to meet Lin Zixuan.

Unfortunately, she found the wrong partner to win over. Lin Zixuan was not disgusted with it and was still very interested.

In Shanghai, where there is a gang boss-level father-in-law who makes him feel safe. Moreover, Feng Chengcheng is still a beautiful woman, so he has no reason to refuse!

As for continuing to go to school, he did not object.

You can continue to go to school after getting married, but there is no need to go to Peking. There are many good universities in Shanghai.

Faced with Feng Chengcheng's many reasons, Lin Zixuan explained one by one, which made the eldest lady of the Feng family very depressed.

The final result is naturally a disagreement.

After leaving the Western restaurant, Lin Zixuan looked up at the sky, and snowflakes began to float in the sky.

He couldn't help but smile, the world became more and more interesting.

When he returned to the Lin family, he received letters from Shenbao and Newspaper, both of which invited him to the newspaper office for detailed discussion.

This shows that the two newspapers attach importance to his novels, but "The Legend of the Condor Heroes" can only be published in one newspaper.

He compared the styles of "Free Talk" and "Happy Forest" and finally chose "Happy Forest".
