Chapter three hundred and forty-five unique marriage testimony

The wedding of Xu Zhimo and Lu Xiaoman caused a lot of sensation in Peking.●⌒,

There were many celebrities participating in the wedding, including Liang Qichao, Ye Gongchao, Yang Jinfu, Ding Xilin, Ren Shuyong, Chen Hengzhe, Chen Yuan, Liang Shiqiu, Tang Youren and others.

Most of them are members of the Crescent Society and the Modern Review School.

It was at this wedding that Liang Qichao, who was witnesses, scolded Xu Zhimo and Lu Xiaoman.

Liang Qichao, who was conservative in his thoughts, originally did not agree to the marriage, but with the urge of all parties, he reluctantly agreed to be the witness.

These unique marriage testimonials are all unique in history.

"I came here to say a few unpleasant words so that society can know that such evil examples are not worthy of learning, and are not worthy of encouragement - Xu Zhimo, you are a person who is impetuous and has achieved nothing in learning, and you fail in life. You divorce and remarry to prove that you are not dedicated to love!

Lu Xiaoman, you and Xu Zhimo are both experienced people. I hope that from now on, you can abide by the wife's words and examine your personality and behavior. Divorce and remarriage are all caused by your personality negligence. I hope you don't make mistakes again and again and again and mislead others.

Don’t take selfishness as the principle of your behavior, don’t take absurdity and pleasure as the purpose of your life pursuit, don’t regard marriage as a joke, think that you can get married if you are happy, and you can get divorced if you are unhappy, so that your parents will be ashamed, your friends will be despised, and the society will be laughed at!

Anyway, I hope this is the last time you two get married in your life! This is my congratulations to you!—I'm done!"

Liang Qichao informed Xu Zhimo about this beforehand. He would not say good things at the wedding, so Xu Zhimo was mentally prepared.

The master and apprentice worked hard to perform this scene in order to deal with the criticism of public opinion.

In Peking, most public opinion is critical of Xu Zhimo and Lu Xiaoman's marriage, and few support it.

Most people think that Xu Zhimo destroys other people's families, Lu Xiaoman is unfaithful and the two of them become traitors, and they are adulterers****.

In this era, although the social atmosphere is gradually open, it is still dominated by conservative forces.

Even Lu Xun had to hide in the south when he had an extramarital affair. Lu Xun is a super-strong figure who claims to be endless and fights endlessly. He has never been afraid of anyone in the debate. But he still can't withstand this pressure.

This is what people say is awesome.

Now, as an elder, Liang Qichao scolded the two of them once, and it was hard for others to say anything.

Most of the guests who came to attend the wedding were unaware of it. For a moment, the atmosphere at the wedding was extremely awkward.

Afterwards, Liang Qichao wrote a letter to his sons Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin who were far away in the United States, telling this matter.

"I did something I was extremely reluctant to do yesterday to testify for Xu Zhimo. His bride was Mrs. Wang Shouxing. It was extremely immoral to divorce Shouxing when she fell in love with Xu Zhimo. I gave a speech at the wedding and taught them a lesson. The newlyweds and guests in the hall were all beautiful. This is probably a wedding that has never been heard of in ancient and modern times!"

Liang Qichao also wrote the marriage testimony at the wedding on the letter.

This is to warn Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin about Xu Zhimo and Lu Xiaoman to treat their relationship seriously. Don’t divorce at any time, be morally corrupt and insult the family style.

The main thing that is about Lin Huiyin here should be.

After all, everyone knows the emotional entanglement between Xu Zhimo and Lin Huiyin. Liang Qichao must be uneasy about this future daughter-in-law, so he beat him up in advance.

Otherwise, there was no need to write this letter, and even included the marriage testimony that scolded Xu Zhimo.

Only great writers like Liang Qichao can use this kind of skillful method of indirect attacks so smoothly.

In later generations, some people said that Hu Shi also attended Xu Zhimo's wedding and became the host, which is nonsense.

At this time, Hu Shi was still wandering around Europe.

On August 4, 1926, Hu Shi and his group came to England.

His main purpose this time was to attend the Boxer Indemnity meeting, but the British did not pay much attention to it. After several meetings, they were separated.

He spent a few days in the UK and exchanged knowledge with British sinologists.

He also gave several speeches on the development of China's new culture, called "The Renaissance of China".

He compared the new Chinese culture with the Renaissance in Europe and believed that the new culture was a great liberation of the Chinese intellectual circle.

At the same time, Hu Shi also read scriptures about Dunhuang culture at the British Museum and the French National Library.

The Dunhuang scriptures stolen by British Stein from China were stored in the British Museum.

Frenchman Pelch and the smuggled Dunhuang cultural relics are stored in the National Library of Paris.

Although Stein collected a large amount of Chinese manuscripts in Dunhuang, due to his lack of knowledge of Sinology and lack of choice, his historical value is far inferior to the collections of the French investigator Pelhe who arrived in Dunhuang later than him.

Pelchhe obtained a large number of precious cultural relics from Dunhuang. He wrote books such as "The Thousand Buddha Caves of Dunhuang", which became famous in France.

He even became a professor at the French Academy in Paris.

Due to the initiatives of Lin Zixuan and Chen Yinge, Dunhuang culture has gradually gained attention from the academic community in China.

On August 26, Hu Shi visited Pelhe in France. After Pelhe's introduction, he was able to enter the National Library of Paris and read the Dunhuang scriptures.

He came to study knowledge, and had no opinion on foreigners who stole Chinese cultural relics, or were unwilling to think too much.

Not as indignant as Lin Zixuan.

In the eyes of Chinese people in this era, this seems to be commonplace, and there is no need to be so heartbroken.

After returning to China, Hu Shi compiled and wrote a compilation of the works of the God Hui brought back from Paris and London, and wrote a very detailed article "The Biography of the God Hui Master", which was compiled into "The Collection of the God Hui Monk", and published it in China.

He wrote this in "Preface to the Collection of Monks of the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods and the Gods

"I would like to take this opportunity to express my deep gratitude to many friends. What I am most grateful to are Dr. Linnaeu of the British Museum in London, Paul Phets and Professors of Paris. Without their enthusiastic assistance, I would not have received these materials."

Zhai Linnae is a British sinologist and is responsible for the Dunhuang documents stolen by Stein at the British Museum.

After doing this, Hu Shi arrived in Germany again.

On October 27, 1926, he was invited by German sinologist Wei Lixian to give a speech at the Frankfurt Chinese Academy in Germany.

The cost of this speech was 300 marks, which was only enough for his round trip from England to Germany.

The title of his speech was called "Chinese Novels", which lasted 105 minutes. During the speech, he told three English jokes, but they were actually understood by foreigners.

However, Hu Shi's trip to Europe was not all good.

When I was having a meal with a friend, I encountered a Chinese student sending a flyer.

The leaflet reads: "Warning compatriots living in Europe, please pay attention to the actions of Dr. Hu Shi, the lackey of Sun Chuanfang, to come to Europe."

This is probably implicated by his friend Ding Wenjiang, who is the general office of the Shanghai-Song Commercial Port Supervisory Office under Sun Chuanfang.

Chinese students abroad were not aware of it and put their hats on Hu Shi's head. Of course, this is also the reason why Hu Shi once supported the Beiyang warlord government.
